Cable, Phone, Internet service for the building

In making some calls today, it seems like Cablevision and TimeWarner are both claiming that they do not service the 317 Greene building. (TimeWarner says Cablevision does, and Cablevision says it's TimeWarner's building.)

It may be that since it is a new building, it has not yet been established which company services the address.

Has anyone had any luck figuring out who is the cable and internet provider for the building?

  1. First of all - thanks for setting up this site. Looking forward to meeting our neighbors. My wife and I are closing in 319 soon. Had our walk-through the other day and the lines coming in seem to be TW and Fios. We haven't ordered service yet, but a quick check on the Fios site shows the address in the system.

  2. Awesome, thanks for this info Paul and I am so glad you find the site useful. I will look into the Fios option then. After holding for a while on the Cablevision customer service line, they said that they figured out that someone from Cablevision did go out to the location and survey the area - but they were waiting on some forms and paperwork to be returned from the management of the building to determine if they can cover this area.

How did you know the lines coming in were for Time Warner?

Good luck with closing! We are really hoping to close next week!

  3. Builder said the cable lines coming in (blue) were Time Warner - but since we'd already been planning to go Fios, I didn't inquire further. Fios lines were the white ones in our box.

  4. I spoke to Toni last week and she said FiOS was the system that the building was using. Basically, the three cable companies have a block by block agreement.

  5. I have an appointment with Verizon Fios for tomorrow am for both internet and cable. I assume they would do phone as well.

  6. Thanks Torri!
As an FYI, for anyone interested. I got a call today from Cablevision stating that they are also able to work in the building.
    Good luck!

  7. I had the FIOS put in yesterday. I would love to hear how others are experiencing mobile phone service. I have an HTC Droid w/Verizon and the phone is completely dead in the alcove area and just barely gets a bar or two near the windows. It's VERY frustrating.

  8. Hi all, I'm moving into 321 next week (fingers crossed!) and I'm wondering how you are liking the FIOS service. I have cablevision right now which is fine (and they can switch it over no problem) but just curious about the other option. Thanks! Brittan

  9. Jen and I had problems initially with our FIOS connection but after a few visits from the cable guy (3 to be exact), the problem was solved and now our internet and cable seem to be great.

  10. Thanks Christopher. I'm going to give Fios a try, and will hold the expectation of many visits from the cable company before it really works. :(
