Moving Day tips: Welcome New Neighbors!

I have been contacted by several of our new neighbors on Clifton Place. Welcome everyone! We can't wait to finally get to meet the people who will be inhabiting the apartments across from ours. I wish you all luck and offer congratulations on closing! If you see me in the backyard with our giant 18lb tabby cat Fabrizio, please say hello!

If you need any help, or have questions about utilities, dry cleaners, moving companies, etc etc - please feel free to ask. I am happy to be a clearinghouse of information. For those of you unsure about how it works with the utilities, it's best for you to call and make arrangements to have Con Edison/National Grid/Verizon Fios, etc turned on yourself, and have the account put under your name. (The developers won't be doing that for you.)

As a little boost for those of you who will be tired and hungry after the moving trucks finally leave you in an apartment full of boxes - here is where you can get some decent take-out!

  • Choice Market (Yummy fresh sandwiches, salads and burgers) Lafayette Avenue at Grand Avenue. (718) 230-5234  *They do not deliver, but it's a very short walk.
  •  Pilar Cuban Eatery (Cuban Sandwiches, soups etc) on Classon between Greene/Clifton  (718) 623-2822 *but beware, they stop delvering early, so this is a better lunch spot.
  • Villa Pancho - (Decent burritos, tacos, vegetarian options.) on Bedford Ave at Greene  (347) 689-8222
  • Amin (Indian) Dekalb at Clermont Ave (718) 399-1300
  • ManeeThai - Myrtle at Clermont Ave (718) 222-9992
  • Salva Vida - (Decent tacos) Greene Avenue between Classon and Grand (718) 789-8432
  • Clementine Bakery - (Great coffee, tea, muffins, dessert, veggie sandwiches) Greene Ave between Classon and Franklin. *Note: they do not deliver, and close at about 6pm.
  • Sushi Tatsu - (Not sure if this is the best sushi ever, but it's consistently good!)  Bedford Ave at Jefferson Ave (347) 985-1197

Greene Avenue is Growing!

This spring, we were awoken one morning to hear the crunching sound of digging into the concrete outside our front window, and were pleasantly surprised to see that Million Trees NYC was planting a beautiful Green Vase tree right in front of our front window! The block received a few of these pretty little trees, which we hope will grow to be as tall as the giant Green Vase trees lining our block.
This morning, a truck from Mayor Bloomberg's PLANyc Green Initiative drove by and added a pretty wrought-iron tree guard around the new tree (and some of the old ones) - which I think is a nice addition to our block. What do you think?

P.S. To our new Clifton Place neighbors, if you would like to request a free tree for your block check out the Million Trees NYC website.

Welcome New Clifton Place Neighbors!

We hear through the grapevine that we will soon have new neighbors at the Clifton Place Lineage condos! The building is now 100% in contract, and that many of you should be closing in the next few weeks. We can remember the long wait before we got to close - and can imagine how excited you must be to finally move in!

In case it might help, I wanted to send another link to the walk-through checklist I posted over a year ago. Here it is again.

Please feel free to contact me for some neighborly advice, and updates/tips on some other things to look for during your punch-list walk through.

Springtime at the Lineage

Sorry for the long delay in posting to the Lineage blog. It has been a busy spring, and now that the warm weather is here, it is nice to once again see our neighbors enjoying their balconies and yards.

Since my last post, the Lineage has established our Condo Association. Our board has been addressing some of the growing pains the building has encountered, and now units are on sale at the Lineage II.

If you have questions for the Condo board, you can contact them at lineagecondoboard@gmail.com .

Condo Meeting this Saturday @ 2pm.

It’s time to get our Condo Association together!  We are holding our first informal meeting this Saturday 1/21 at 2pm at Brooklyn Tap House (590 Myrtle Avenue at Classon.)

On the agenda:
  •  Meet your neighbors
  • Discuss common issues and repairs your building has encountered
  • Discuss what issues remain to be fixed building-wide
  • Set a date for the first formal “board meeting” where board elections will take place
  • Sign up to be a point person for your building – to help inform neighbors about upcoming building events and meetings.

First look at Speedy Romeo

Grub Street has a new post that offers a sneak peak at Speedy Romeo, opening on Classon/Greene in the coming weeks. We have now completed the healthy-eating trifecta: Tacos, Cuban Sandwiches & Pizza all on one corner (with some killer donuts a few blocks away!)  They say it's opening next week.

Check out the sneak preview and slideshow here

It's Condo Association Time!

Hi everyone, happy holidays!

The building is now somewhere between 90% - 100% in contract, and we are just about to hit the 1 year mark from when the first person moved into the Lineage. This being the case, I am told that we need to form our condo association right away.

From what we understand, the condo association has up to one year from when the first person moved into the building to ask the builders to make repairs to the building structure itself. (For ex. I believe #317 needs to have it's roof finished.) We also have 1 year from our closing date to ask the builder to make repairs to our individual units.

To get in on this discussion, our neighbor Danielle has set up a Yahoo Group for Lineage owners. To sign up for the list, please click here. Don't worry, it's a low volume email list.

Perhaps we should schedule our first meeting for after the holidays.

Please respond to this post if you have any trouble signing up. I look forward to finally meeting you all!
