Walk-Through email received
We were excited yesterday to find an email from Toni Martin saying that the building is now ready to start scheduling walk-throughs. Did you get one too?
The thing that is frustrating about this is that now the walk-throughs are delayed until they can get the appliances in and get the touch-ups done. This is something that could have easily been done while waiting for the C of O. Meanwhile, I'm waiting to give notice at my current place, so every week counts. But ... oh well .....
Did my walk-through on Friday sans stove and working water because I REALLY need to be able to give notice at my apartment ASAP.
I didn't see any major problems except that it appears that the back windows for the units on the 2nd floor can't open all of the way because they didn't position the metal railing correctly on the balcony. I could see that the design of units on Clifton have been corrected. I don't think there's anything I can do about it. I'd have to have a metal worker come and cut down that portion of the railing in order to open the window all of the way. I was thinking that the window should be replaced with a traditional model where the panes move up and down instead of cranking out ... but it would be a HUGE fix.
Hi there, We have our walk-through scheduled for this Thursday morning. We're crossing our fingers! What a bummer about the windows/balcony. You don't think you can ask the sponsor to fix this before closing? This seems like a big enough deal that you'd have a reason to complain. We've found that the sponsor seems willing to fix any errors on their end if asked.

Good luck!
When you say you've found them willing to fix any errors, what requests have you made?
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to chat more about this and share our experience, you can email me at jen (at) doingitherself (dot)com.
